Lucas & Laura’s 1st wedding anniversary

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Well, the last year has gone quickly – it only seems like a few months ago that we were getting ready for our wedding, and to head off overseas for 4 months. It’s been quite an exciting and busy year, so we decided to take a few days out and headed down to Hobart for a few days to relax and celebrate our first year of married life.

The slower pace of Hobart (and I guess Tasmania in general) was great for a few relaxed days away. We hired a car so we could get out and see a bit more of the country side. We got up to Coles Bay and Feycinet National Park. We experienced the spine tingling ghost tour at Port Author, and spent a bit of time in Richmond, the Cadbury chocolate factory and the Cascade Brewery. Mount Wellington was covered in cloud, so our slow drive up there didn’t really yield the spectacular views that you could imagine on a clear day.

All in all we had a great couple of days on the smaller island. We have posted our photos in our photo album.

I have managed to post some of our pictures from around the neighbourhood where we are staying. There are not too many up there yet, but I hope to be able to get more up soon. Its dificult due to the size of my image files, and not being able to resize them easily in internet cafe’s… oh well.

Check out the Lucas & Laura’s Trip page to see the albums.

Hola! The trip begins.

Hi all,

After a reasonable, but long flight we touched down in Santiago yesterday afternoon (14th). After some sleep, we had our first dinner here, which consisted of a packet of Corn chips & a bottle of local red wine called ´Carmen´ – made the choice easy.

After some more sleep last night we had a light breakfast where we are staying, and have headed out to try and get a feel for the place. Hope to do some tours during the week to see the sights, etc.

The city is reasonably nice. We are staying in the european area, which has nice buildings and cobble stone streets. The rest of the city is basically like any other – very busy. The smog here is noticable, although not too bad.

We hope to have some photos up here shortly.

I now pronounce you husband & wife

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Laura and I were married in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bairnsdale at 2.30pm on 29th March 2008.

The whole day went absolutly smoothly – the weather even held off long enough for us to have our photos, and get to the reception.

We were very fortuate to be surounded by so many of our family and friends on the day. All appeared to enjoy the night. While the nerves got the better of me, Laura was in her element, and was an absolutly stunning bride.

I hope to have pictures up shortly – once everything settles down a bit and gets back to normal
