Lucas & Laura’s 1st wedding anniversary

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Well, the last year has gone quickly – it only seems like a few months ago that we were getting ready for our wedding, and to head off overseas for 4 months. It’s been quite an exciting and busy year, so we decided to take a few days out and headed down to Hobart for a few days to relax and celebrate our first year of married life.

The slower pace of Hobart (and I guess Tasmania in general) was great for a few relaxed days away. We hired a car so we could get out and see a bit more of the country side. We got up to Coles Bay and Feycinet National Park. We experienced the spine tingling ghost tour at Port Author, and spent a bit of time in Richmond, the Cadbury chocolate factory and the Cascade Brewery. Mount Wellington was covered in cloud, so our slow drive up there didn’t really yield the spectacular views that you could imagine on a clear day.

All in all we had a great couple of days on the smaller island. We have posted our photos in our photo album.

Antonio Pruscino

I have finally got around to making some updates to the Modrich-Pruscino Family Tree.

Most of the changes are to my mothers side of the family, but there are general updates all over – including this image of Antonio Pruscino (Laura’s Nonno), sourced from the National Archives of Australia.

From Hell – The Victorian Bushfires

Victorian Bushfire Hell

Victorian Bushfire Hell

Saturday 7th February 2009 is still very fresh in every Australians mind – A day from Hell itself for Victorians.

Few could have imagined worse conditions to fuel the fury of the Bushfires that have ravaged, and continue to ravage, many areas within Victoria. Melbourne’s hottest day on record topped 46.4c (also record for any Australian capital city) – but few in affected areas had time to note the new record, defending their properties and themselves against the hellish fire front.

Victoria is familiar with Bushfires – this is an event all Victorians must prepare for each summer. The difference this year is the shear magnitude of lost life, with the death toll expected to continue to rise over the coming days and even weeks.

While I have been lucky enough to not have been affected by this tragedy, I feel that the best way for me to assist at this time is to dig into my wallet and make a donation to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal (2009).

The Melbourne City Romp was on the weekend, and the ‘Romping Wish Fairies’ had a great time. Many thanks to everyone who sponsored us!

In search of a new theme

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

I’ve been getting a little board with the stock standard theme my blog has been using – while it was clean, and simple, I’m looking for something more.

I have found a few new themes that I want to play around with and get a feel for – so if things look wildly different each time you visit over the next few days – I apoligise, but I hope to settle on a new one shortly.

If anyone has any comments on the new themes, please let me know.
