So after another long bus ride across the Andean country side we arrived in Cuzco yesterday afternoon – and what a relief this was. The 7 hour bus ride across Peruvian highways that at times were as smooth as a bad gravel road was wearing thin – plus our butts were sore from sitting for so long
.
Cuzco really is the oasis we have been waiting for – its downtown region is really old and beautiful with a definate European feel. The icing on the cake for us is that we are sort of starting to feel better!
We have a couple of free days here to explore and get to know the city – which we are both looking forward to.
Last night consisted of locating an old English style pub, consuming a few lagers, and then heading up the road for a bowl of creamed tomato soup (all the soup over here seems to be creamed – its hard to get a simple chicken broth, etc).
Today we are going to head out to the local produce markets, which should be very interesting and present a few good photo opportunities I hope.
I have finally got access to a computer with a reasonable internet connetcion and the ability to upload pictures – so I have added a new gallerywith a small taste of the photos I have taken (these are all from my mobile so hope the quality is ok).
If I get some free time later this afternoon, I will try to work on getting some of the other photos put up, but this will take time as I need to re-size, etc.

Good to hear you are both having a goo time over there, but by the sounds of if you have had a rough “TROTS” hahaha with your health. got back from visiting Dad last week and had a great time, he’s doing well and frank is to. Megan started her new job last Monday and is really enjoying it, while i am still doing my job and enjoying it, and have just changed my phone carrier to dodo, still optus but because i was out of contract and didn’t need a new phone i got a PS3 instead. Anyway enjoy your trip and megan thinks it’s quite funny how many photo’s you take, but it’s good to see a part of the world we haven’t seen
Enjoy, and stay safe
James & Megan

Hi Luke and Laura,
Happy birthday, and what a way to enjoy it. I suspect you’ll both need a diet, a gym subscription or both by the time you get home. It’s really unbelievable, how much the Argie Family made you feel welcome.
Scary stuff with the credit card, but fortunately plan B paid off. I’ll be surprised if you ever approach an ATM again without absolutely double checking that you have the card. It does give you a sick feeling in the stomach, but all’s well that ends well.
Spain sounds incredible.Continue to enjoy your adventure. Love Dadxx
Hi Luke and Laura,
Nice to read of your safe arrival in the “old dart”. I suspect that you will find that your money doesn’t go quite as far in London [food or grog] as it did in Spain.
The advantages of speaking the language [maybe... if you can understand some of the accents] and having a few contacts who can give you a few tips, show you around, and generally assist is a great advantage. Look forward to seeing and hearing more.
